Aksel Epik was born in İzmir and attended Gazi İlk Okulu in Alsancak. He moved to Rock Island, Illinois in 1964. He received his BA in Psychology and Sociology from Illinois State University. Mr. Epik received a Master of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin in Communication Arts, specializing in Film Theory and History. He worked at Arthur Andersen for 10 years in Los Angeles. Mr. Epik later became a director at MGM studios in charge of production computers. He then worked at Spelling Entertainment as a director in the Information Technology Department. He received a TEFL degree at UCLA and worked 2 years as an English teacher with immigrants at Evans School part of the Los Angeles County Unified School District. He returned to Turkey in 1999 and worked as an English teacher at Deniz College in Güzel Bahçe. He joined our university in 2004. He has taught in the preparatory program and now is a member of the Freshman English teaching staff. He also teaches “Language and Culture through Film.” He has prepared and published books for the Communication Sciences Faculty English 101 and English 102 books. I received the TEFL Certificate from UCLA in 1996
