Ayse Banu Demir is a Faculty Member at the Department of Basic Medical Sciences of Faculty of Medicine. She received her BSc. (2007) degree from Bilkent University/Turkey and MSc. (2009) and PhD. (2015) degrees from Izmir Institute of Technology/Turkey in the field of Molecular Biology and Genetics. During her education, she did research in Neurogenetics and Gene Therapy Departments at Karolinska Institute/Sweden and in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at University of Gothenburg/Sweden. She worked as a research assistant in the Institute of Oncology at Dokuz Eylul University/Turkey (2012-2016) and had a second MSc. (2016) degree in the field of Basic Oncology from this institute. In 2019, she completed a phylogenetic analysis training at Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome in Italy.
