Melda Sur graduated from Strasbourg University Faculty of Law in 1975 (maîtrise). After working as assistant and teaching Labour Law at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Ankara University (Chair of Labour Law and Social Policy) from January 1980 to November 1986, she pursued her career in Izmir, Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Law until her retirement from this University in 2020.
Dr. Sur had obtained her Ph.D. (Dr. juris) title at Ankara University in 1984; associate professor (doçent) of Labour Law in 1990, and then professor in 1996.
Prof. Dr. Sur served as head of the Labour and Social Security Department, head of the Department of International Law at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Law, and head of the Private Law Section. She also was member of this University's Senate during two terms.
Prof. Dr. Sur taught as a guest professor at the Bordeaux University "Comparative Labour Law" and "International Law".
She is presently among the academic staff of the Izmir Economy University Faculty of Law.
Member of the Turkish Association of Labour and Social Security Law, and of the International Society for Labour and Social Security Law to which it is affiliated, Prof. Dr. Sur is member of the scientific board of the Revue de Droit comparé du travail et de la sécurité sociale.
Fluent in French and English, Prof. Dr. M. Sur teaches and publishes both in the fields of Labour Law and International Law.
