Bülent Bilir earned his B.S. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Boğaziçi University in 1987, M.S. in Control and Computer Engineering from İstanbul Technical University in 1990, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia, MO, USA in 2000. Prior to joining the academia, from 2000 through 2004, he worked as a power systems expert at Siemens and CompuSharp in Silicon Valley, California and Electric Power Group in Southern California. He was with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Bahçeşehir University from 2004 through 2009 and with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Istanbul Arel University from 2009 through 2012 as a faculty member. He was a visiting professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Northeastern University, Boston, MA, USA from 2012 through 2014. Dr. Bilir is currently a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at İzmir University of Economics. His research interests include computational methods for power systems, power-flow analysis, stability and control of power systems, and renewable energy. He is a member of the IEEE and its societies of Power Engineering and Control Systems.
