Cigdem Kentmen-Cin received her B.A. from Istanbul University in International Relations. She received her M.A. degree in European Studies from Bahcesehir University where she also worked as a research assistant. She completed her Ph.D. degree in Political Science at University of Missouri, Columbia in 2007. In the same year, she joined Izmir University of Economics as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2012 and to full Professor in 2018. She received the Outstanding Young Scientist Award from the Turkish Academy of Sciences for her studies in 2014. Dr Kentmen-Cin’s research interests include public opinion, political participation and voting behavior. Her articles have appeared in leading scholarly journals such as Political Research Quarterly, JCMS: Journal of Common Market Studies, European Union Politics, Social Science Quarterly, Journal of European Social Policy and Environment & Behavior. Since 2011, Dr Kentmen-Cin has been serving on the editorial board of European Union Politics. Since November 2018, she has been the Vice Rector of Izmir University of Economics.
