After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine, Ege University, Izmir in 2009, Dr. Ceylan completed her psychiatry residency at Dokuz Eylul University, Izmir in 2014. She gained her PhD degree for neuroscience in 2019. During her psychiatry residency, she worked as a research assistant in the Psychiatry Department of the University of Toronto Medical School for six months. She worked as a psychiatric specialist and consultant psychiatrist in Gumushane State Hospital and Community Mental Health Center between the years 2014-2017.
Dr. Ceylan’s research focuses on DNA damage and repair, neurocognition, inflammatory and oxidative mechanisms in mood disorders. She authored and coauthored several papers focusing on neurobiology of bipolar disorder. She is a recipient of several grants from the Psychiatry Association of Turkey, Lithium Society of Turkey and the Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council.
She worked as the Coordinator of the Trainee’s Committee at Psychiatric Association of Turkey and the delegate for the European Federation of Psychiatric Trainees and an executive board member of the Izmir Branch of the Psychiatric Association of Turkey between 2011-2014. She has worked as a member of the Educational Committee of the Psychiatric Association of Turkey Between 2011-2018. She is currently the President of the Lithium Society, and a member of the Congress Organization Committee of the Psychiatric Association of Turkey.
