Devrim Ünay is the Department Head of Biomedical Engineering of Izmir University of Economics, Turkey. His research interests include medical image analysis, content-based information retrieval, and machine learning as well as computer vision and quality inspection. He received PhD (2006) on Applied Sciences from Faculté Polytechnique de Mons, Belgium, and an MS (2001) in Biomedical Engineering and a BS (1999) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Boğaziçi University, Turkey. Following his PhD study, Dr. Ünay worked as a senior scientist and a Marie Curie fellow in the Video Processing and Analysis Group at Philips Research Eindhoven, the Netherlands (2007-2009), as a visiting researcher in the VPA Lab of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Sabancı University, Istanbul, Turkey (2009-2010), and as a Faculty Member at the Biomedical Engineering Department of Bahçeşehir University, Istanbul, Turkey (2010-2015). He serves as an associate member at the IEEE Signal Processing Society, Bio Imaging and Signal Processing Technical Committee. He has authored 19 journal publications and holds two international patents. He has been the PI of 4 national and 1 international projects.
