SHORT CV
After graduating from Middle East Technical University – Chemical Engineering Department with a GPA of 3.85/4.00- with the First in Class award in 2004, I completed my doctoral studies at the University of Manchester in the UK in 2008 thanks to the Marie Curie Scholarship from the European Union with the thesis titled "Synthesis and Characterization of Polyvinylalcohol-Mordenite Membranes and Their Applications in Direct Methanol Fuel Cells." After fulfilling my military service, I started working at Bahçeşehir University in 2010 in the Department of Energy Systems Engineering. There, I taught courses such as "Fundamentals of Thermodynamics," "Heat and Mass Transfer," "Fuels and Combustion," "Energy Economics," "Sustainable Energy," "Fuel Cell Technologies," "Introduction to Energy Systems Engineering," "Alternative and Renewable Energy Systems," and "Capstone Project." From 2013 to 2016, I served as the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences. I am a board member of the Energy Economics Association of Turkey, which is the Turkish branch of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE). I was a member of the organizing committee of the International Conference on Energy Economics, which took place in Antalya in 2015 and served as the chair of the program committee for the 45th conference held in Istanbul in 2024. In the fall semester of the 2016-17 academic year, I worked as a visiting academic at the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Manchester in the Sustainable Industrial Systems research group under the supervision of Prof. Adisa Azapagic. Since February 2017, I have been working at Izmir University of Economics Faculty of Engineering. I am also the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. I have taught courses such as "General Chemistry," "Physics for Engineers," "Material and Energy Balances," "Differential Equations I," "Natural Resource Management," "Heat Transfer," "Engineering Thermodynamics," and "Fundamentals of Engineering Culture." My main research interests include life cycle analysis, clean energy, energy economics, sustainability, and fuel cells. I was promoted to Associate Professor by the Higher Education Council (ÜAK) on July 17, 2018, and promoted to Professor on March 15, 2024.
In addition to my academic work, I provide consultancy services to companies in various sectors such as energy, petrochemicals, food, textiles, finance, machinery, and construction, on topics including the preparation of corporate sustainability reports, life cycle assessment, carbon footprint calculation, and process improvement.
