She was born in Adana. She completed her elementary and secondary education in Ayas College and graduated from İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Medical School in 1982. Between 1982 and 1985 she completed her compulsory service in Bolu (Central) Number 2 Regional Healthcare Center and work in Karabağlar Healthcare Center, in İzmir for a short time. She has completed her specialization education in Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Physiology in 1988. She became associate professor and professor in 1993 and 1999 respectively at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Physiology. She has completed her doctoral proficiency in “Educational Sciences” and took part in DEU Medical School's active education establishment studies.

She held the following positions;

1994 – 1997, Dokuz Eylül University Graduate School of Health Sciences-Vice Director

2000-2009 Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Physiology – Department Head

2003-2006 Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine-Member of Faculty Council

2005-2011 Dokuz Eylül University Vocational School of Health Sciences- Director

2012-2013 Girne American University, Faculty of Health Sciences- Dean

2012-2013 Girne American University, School of Nursing - Director

2013-2023 İzmir University of Economics Vocational School of Health Sciences- Director

Since 2023 İzmir University of Economics Faculty of Medicine - Dean

Her interests of research are sports physiology, neurophysiology, learning and education.
