Meltem Aktaş is graduated from University of Ankara, Italian Language and Literature Department in 1995 and in the same year she started working at University of Ankara, TÖMER as Italian Instructor. She pursued her master degree in 2002 at and Ph.D. Degree in 2009 in Foreign Language Teaching on behalf University of Ankara, Department of Linguistics. In 2000 July- August she participated the course “La Lingua Contemporanea” with a scholarship at Perugia University in Italy.
From 2002 to 2003 she partecipated several courses, workshops and conferences about European Language Portfolio Project conducted by the Ministry of Education. In 2002–2003 she took a part as a formator teacher in European Language Portfolio Project of Ministry of Education. In 2010 she partecipateted The 10th International Language, Lıterature and Stylistics Symposium, at Gazi University in Ankara in Turkey with her paper, also published in full text. In 2011 she partecipated The 1st International Translation Studies and Terminology Congress at Kırıkkale University in Kırıkkale in Turkey, also published in full text. Also in 2011 she became examiner of Università per Stranieri di Perugia, to evaluate oral examinations of CELI (Il Certificato di Conoscenza Della Lingua Italiana) approved by ALTE, The Council of Europe. In 2015 and 2019 she published papers and articles on Teaching Italian as a foreign language and Using Technology in Foreign Language Teaching. In 2010 she is elected in Board of Academic Evaluation and Quality Development in IEU. Between 2016 and 2020 she was assigned as a member of Bologna Process Commitee of School of Foreign Languages. She joined IEU staff in September 2003.
In recent years, she has been giving actively Italian Culture and Art courses since 2012 as an elective course in Italian language , in the context of the using culture in teaching a foreign language and intercultural communication. Since 2017, she is giving courses called "Italian Culture" in "General Education Courses" in English.
