Dr. Güngörmüşler is a bioengineer with training in biology and bioengineering from Türkiye, Italy, and Canada. She worked for a global diagnostics company after receiving her Ph.D. Since 2017, she has been a faculty member at Izmir University of Economics in the Department of Genetics and Bioengineering. She was one of the co-founders of HOPE Biotechnology start-up company in 2022.
Her research covers expertise including waste biovalorization, biohydrogen production, probiotics, sustainability and environmental biotechnology. In addition to presenting her work at various conferences, Dr. Güngörmüşler has authored over 30 papers in prestigious international journals. In 2024, she received the International Excellence Fellowship from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany. She is a member of the Management Committee and Core Group in the EU-COST LIAISE Action, where she works on industrial symbiosis and sustainability since 2023. Her work not only advances scientific knowledge but also aims to address critical environmental challenges through innovative biotechnological solutions.
