Özlem Döğerlioğlu Işıksungur graduated from Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Law in 1996 and have already gained work experience as a Turkish lawyer. She holds a master's degree in International Business Law awarded from Yeditepe University. Following, by receiving a scholarship from France she has continued her education in France and entitled her second master's degree in International Business Law from EDHEC Business School with her thesis on “Online Arbitration”. Also, she has entitled her PhD (doctorate) degree from Ankara University in 2011 with her thesis titled “Consumer Regulations in EU Energy Market and their Repercussions on Turkish Energy Legislation”.
For a short time, she worked in the Law Office of Vilson & Elkins in London and in the Trade Department of the Turkish Embassy in Paris. She served as a Turkish lawyer and provided legal consultancy to national and international clients.
Her core expertise areas are Commercial Law, Energy Law, Energy Efficiency Law, Climate Change Law, EU Law, Digitalisation . She has extensive experience in research and consultancy on local, international, comparative and European energy law, energy issues and EU acquis. Until today, she has worked as a legal consultant in many energy and renewable energy projects. Taking part as legal expert in EU and Word-Bank Projects, she has also gained experience on low carbon development.
At the same time, she is a columnist in the Turkish Energy Reviews. She is a member of Turkish Wind Energy Association (TUREB), Turkish Solar Energy Industry Association (GENSED) and World Energy Council Turkish National Committee. Özlem Döğerlioğlu Işıksungur has attended many conferences both in Turkey and abroad and has successfully completed many certificates.
