Assistant Professor Sarphan Uzunoğlu works at Izmir University of Economics, Department of New Media and Communication. The founder of NewsLabTurkey and selected as an Ashoka Fellow in 2021, Uzunoğlu completed his PhD at Galatasaray University in 2017 with a thesis on precarious labor practices in journalism. Previously, Uzunoğlu worked as a Lecturer at the Department of Multimedia Journalism at the Lebanese American University, Associate Professor at the Department of Media and Documentation at the Norwegian Arctic University, Lecturer at the Department of Public Relations and Publicity at Kadir Has University, and Visiting Assistant Professor and Visiting Lecturer at Bilgi University and Ankara Bilim University. In the past, Uzunoğlu has contributed to newspapers such as Evrensel and Akşam and magazines such as Mesele, Varlık, Kaos GL.
