I was born in Ankara, 1979. Having obtained BSc (2002) and MSc (2006) degrees in International Relations at Middle East Technical University, I worked as a political advisor in the Turkish Parliament between 2003 and 2006. Receiving the scholarship of the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, I completed a postgraduate certificate programme in Contemporary European Studies at the University of Birmingham in 2008. Next year, as a chevening scholar of the British Council, I obtained an MSc degree at Royal Holloway University of London (RHUL) with the thesis on Turkish Diplomacy during 1930s. Granted the Thomas Holloway Scholarship, I started a PhD in Politics at RHUL in September 2009. During my PhD study, I worked as a seminar tutor for a number of undergraduate courses, namely, Introduction to Globalization, War and Security, Issues in Contemporary Europe, and Introduction to Research Methods in Politics and IR. Having successfully completed the INSTIL programme (Programme in Skills of Teaching to Inspire Learning) at RHUL, I was granted the status of “associate fellow” by the British Higher Education Academy in 2013. My PhD thesis entitled “Understanding the Euroscepticism in Turkish Politics” passed the PhD examination (VIVA) in 21 March 2014. I have published several journal articles and book chapters on the EU policies of Turkish political parties, and Euroscepticism in candidate countries. Finally, I am the founding co-editor of the academic blog ChangingTurkey.com and a member of the Euroscepticism Research Network of the University Association for Contemporary European Studies (UACES).
