Sevda Kaya Kitınur obtained a double major degree in Sinology and Radio, Television, and Cinema from Ankara University in 2011. Following the completion of her undergraduate studies, she was awarded the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship to pursue the study of Mandarin in Taiwan. Upon returning, she earned her master's degree in Radio, Television, and Cinema from Ege University by defending her thesis titled "The Phenomenon of Collective Memory in Post-Cultural Revolution Chinese Cinema: Scar Dramas".
Kaya Kitınur has been a visiting researcher in Taiwan on a scholarship provided by the Chinese Studies Center at the National Central Library for a semester in 2024. She is a Ph.D. candidate in Radio Television and Cinema at Ege University with a research focus on Marvel fan communities regarding transmedia studies. She serves as a Research Assistant at the Department of New Media and Communication since 2021.
Her academic interests include visual studies, cultural studies, Chinese and Taiwanese cinema, transmedia storytelling, and fan studies.
