Bahar Durmaz has a multidisciplinary background in design, teaching, research and architectural practice since she has graduated from Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Architecture in 2002 (Izmir, Turkey). Bahar worked as a research and teaching assistant at Izmir Institute of Technology at the Faculty of Architecture between 2005-2008. She studied Master of Urban Design (2002-2006) and gained the degree of Phd qualifcation in City Planning (2006-2008) at the same faculty. In 2008, she decided to go abroad to carry on her PhD studies and in 2012 she received Phd degree in Architecture and Built Environment at the University of Nottingham. She moved back to Turkey in September 2012 and currently, she has been working as a full-time lecturer at İzmir University of Economics at the Department of Architecture.rnHer PhD research is about understanding the dynamic interaction between design quality and design process of urban place focusing on two creative places, Soho-London and Beyoğlu-Istanbul. Currently she is working on expanding her research towards analysing the multi-layered relationship between architecture and urban place. rn
