Gülgün İnan received her Bachelor's degree in American Culture and Literature from Ege University in 2001. During B.A., she received a certificate of Effective Business Communication in 1998. After completing her teaching training at Bornova Anatolian High School, she received her Pedagogical Training Certificate. Gülgün received her degree in Master of Arts in American Culture and Literature from Ege University in 2004 after writing her thesis on poetry called, Issues of Race and Gender in the Works of Gwendolyn Brooks. She has worked at Ege University Foreign Languages Department, as an English instructor, for four years. In 2005, she completed the TDC (Teacher Development Course) part1 program at British Council. She joined the staff of Izmir University of Economics in 2005. She worked at the Self Access Centre of the university for two years. She attended IATEFL in Exeter University, England in 2008 with a paper called “A Taste of American Culture in the Classroom”. After the conference, her paper was published in a Polish magazine called, “The Teacher”.
